Sustainability is a balance between the environment, justice and the economy.
The most frequently cited definition comes from the United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development: “Sustainable development is a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
Sustainable practices support the health and vitality of the environment, people and economies.
Sustainability presupposes that resources are limited and that they should be used judiciously, taking into account long-term priorities and consequences of resource use.
In short, sustainability is about our children and grandchildren and the world we leave them.
We choose to be a sustainable beauty salon because sustainability is the key to our future, the future of humanity! If we want our planet to change, change has to start with us, and we’ve decided to do everything we can to give the planet some breathing room.
As a beauty salon, warm water and good lighting are essential to give our clients the best possible experience. We choose to do this in an environmentally responsible way while caring for our customers and the planet.
We started with energy-efficient LED bulbs, eco-shower heads (check out our hair wash article if you want to learn more about their benefits), timers, smart switches, and electric heaters.
We also use eco-friendly towels that are more absorbent, cheaper for the salon, and better for the planet. They are biodegradable, chemical-free and non-toxic, vegan-friendly and certified.
In the salon, we also use professional hair products with recyclable and refillable packaging.
