No better way to embrace a new year than by changing up your hairstyle. January is usually a time when clients approach us with a wish to switch their look. Here’s a recent colour makeover we had the honour and pleasure to work on. Let’s see how to make a soft ash blonde balayage

Our client got tired of red and wanted to achieve something very different and start a new chapter in her professional life.

Where it all started: Crimson red hair

Where it all started: Crimson red hair

As part of a consultation, she showed an image of the desired outcome to Bea, one of our brilliant hair colourists. It was a smooth balayage ombre. Bea first tested on a small section how the hair reacts to bleach. When she saw how the red pigments reacted, they came up with a treatment plan, and the client received a quote. She decided to go for it and set the appointment.

On the big day, it took a solid 6 hours to get the desired result, but boy – it was worth it. There were sweat and tears – from joy! ☺️ Bea went gentle with the bleach in order to protect the hair, and decided to rather take longer than hurry it all up with a stronger product. The roots were then touched up, and freehand highlights were applied to create a smooth and natural looking overall effect.

The end result is a gradual transition from liquorice into an ash blonde balayage ombre:
