BACKGROUND

Well well well – I wanted to be an accountant. But luckily, there were not many students interested in pursuing a career in accountancy. Therefore, the course was cancelled and I was left with a dilemma: what shall I study now? 

I’ve always liked working with hair. My mum was a dressmaker so I grew up around professional scissors, artistry and creativity. Going into hairdressing seemed to be an obvious second choice, and it turned out to be one that I never regretted.

I had a wonderful mentor and learnt so quickly on the job that by the second year of my apprenticeship, I could do everything in hairdressing with confidence: from cut and colour to perm, blow dry, styling – you name it. My mentor trusted me with doing it for all his clients in the salon.

In my family, we always say jokingly: mum and I like to stick to scissors.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

I can think of 3 key things that shaped my career, big time: first, moving from my small town to Warsaw and starting to work there in a professional salon. Then, moving back to a small town – but in a different country. Clients in Wales have very different expectations than what I was used to. Now, I’m back in the metropolis, but this time, the city is called London. And I’m loving it.
