“Having acne is the worst for your confidence and finding a salon who can just sort you out like this is just amazing.” A dear client has sent us pictures of the result of her last facial treatment which prompted us to write about the benefits of LED light therapy and how it can help if you have skin problems such as acne. Have a look at this case study.

Acne is a serious and painful skin condition, can leave scars behind and is indeed bad for your confidence. Certain types of acne, especially hormonal acne can be treated relatively easily provided you visit your beauty therapist regularly.

Edith first started with cleansing the face gently with cleansing milk and hydrodermabrasion, a more gentle way to the mechanical scrub. After gentle steaming, pores were expertly and carefully cleansed.

“They know how to extract black heads and white heads without making a single mark on your face.”

The skin was then sterilised and disinfected, followed by a cooling cryotherapy with soothing pore refining mask. Once the mask was removed, Edith applied LED light therapy.

What’s this LED all about then?

Each colour of light has its own benefits to the skin. Red lights are great for energizing every cell. Yellow is the colour of choice for decreasing inflammation by encouraging circulation and boosting the body’s immune system. Green light on the skin has shown to target uneven skin tones and reduce redness. Blue LED light has long been recognized as the non-invasive gentle therapy for acne blemishes because of its ability to kill the acne bacteria in the pore.

Edith used blue lights to kill those bacteria and allow the client’s skin to rest and heal deep down.

Studies show that skin exposed to LED light wavelengths grows 150-200% faster. Therefore, as LED therapy improves the cosmetic appearance of skin, it also promotes the healing of wounds, scars and burns. This happens because skin has a high blood and water content, so it quickly absorbs the visible light to produce enough energy to cause a healing response from the body.

“I am so happy about the result of my last treatment. I was crying about my skin and just 3 days after the treatment, everything is gone and I feel confident again, so thank you so much.”

Indeed, LED light therapy can help rather quickly, but to maintain the results, it’s best to see your therapist on a regular basis, according to the treatment plan you agree on. Once your skin gets into the right sort of rhythm and is healed with the help of these facials – which can take up to a year in many cases – you can reduce the frequency of the LED treatments and get into a regular facial routine.

“Highly recommend for facials, Edith is so experienced and caring. If you have bad skin (hormonal acne for example) and need a deep cleanse but you are worried about extraction and making it worse, this is the salon for you. […] , they know when you should have a facial according to your cycle, whatever you book online, they will only do what’s suitable for your skin type. Figaro has the best of the best therapists, your skin will glow after only one treatment. :)”
